Tic Tac Costume Tutorial + Free Logo Printables

What started as one little Tic Tac costume DIY quickly snowballed—kind of like when you open a pack “just for one” and suddenly half the container is gone.

I planned to only make a Freshmints Tic Tac costume, but once I saw how fun it looked, I just had to add Orange, Strawberry Mix, and Fruit Adventure.

Because why stop at minty fresh when you can have a whole rainbow?

Two women wear homemade Tic Tac costumes, one as fruit adventure with colorful balloons, the other as freshmints with white balloons, both smiling. Text reads: "DIY tic tac COSTUME" and “w. free printable logos”.

What You’ll Need to Make a Tic Tac Costume

Materials and Tools List:

A large paper with a Tic Tac Freshmints label sits on top of a stack of papers, boxes, and colorful crafting supplies on a carpeted floor.

How to Make a Tic Tac Costume

A smiling woman wears a homemade Tic Tac Freshmints costume, featuring a large box-shaped top with the Tic Tac logo and a clear lower section filled with oversized white mint replicas. She stands outside by a garage door.

Start with the box

Before you grab the box cutter, measure yourself to figure out how deep the box needs to be. (Let’s be honest—this may vary depending on how “developed” you are up top.) For me, 10″ deep worked fine, but my daughter needed 11″ for a comfy fit.

Open the box flat, measure, and re-tape it so the width matches your clear bag—that’s what makes the costume look neat and proportional.

A cardboard box with two rectangular holes cut out, ideal for a tic tac costume, sits on a carpeted floor. The Amazon logo is visible on the front of the box.

For a medium women’s frame, 18″ wide works perfectly, while 24″ wide is better for men. Keep the box about 8–9″ tall.

Once you’ve taped it back together, cut an 8″ square opening at the top for your head.

Then add 4″-wide armholes on each side, stopping about 2″ from the top edge so you’ll have plenty of arm movement without weakening the structure.

Wrap the finished box neatly in white paper, keeping the seam at the front where the logo will cover it later.

Now make the Tic Tacs.

Stretch each 260 size balloon a couple of times, inflate it fully with a pump, then deflate and re-inflate—that little trick helps them keep air longer.

A woman stands in front of a garage door wearing a creative costume resembling a box of Strawberry Mix Tic Tacs made from cardboard and clear plastic, filled with large pink capsules.

Measure about 6″, twist and knot tightly, trim the excess, and use a glue dot to stick the tail down for a smooth finish.

Each balloon now looks like an oversized Tic Tac!

Fill the bag with 15–25 balloons, depending on how full you want it to look.

Assemble your Tic Tac Costume

Next, attach the clear bag to the box. Tape the bag to the inside front of the box so it hangs down evenly.

A cardboard box covered in white paper with an open front sits on a carpet, resembling the start of a tic tac costume. A clear plastic sheet and a pair of white gloves are placed in front of the box.

If the bag has a zipper top, tape one side to the box and zip it closed; otherwise, fold and tape the top inside the box.

Finally, print your chosen flavor logo and secure it so it starts on the box and spills onto the clear bag. Glue dots work well, but regular glue works too. I printed mine on 11×17 paper.

This might be a silly question, but instead of using a hand pump, I have an electric pump. Is that still okay to use? Or is there a reason you suggest hand pump? Thanks! 🙂
