These sweet little blooms are easier to make than they look—and no fancy piping skills required!
All you need is some stretchy candy, a toothpick, and a little twist-and-roll magic to turn your cupcakes into a stunning rose cupcake bouquet.
1️⃣ Cut the Candy: Use a pizza cutter to slice right along the blue edge of the candy strip. You’ll separate the red/orange/yellow side from the green/blue side. Take the red, orange yellow strip and cut it in half.
Keep the green and blue strip – we’ll need it later for the leaves.
2️⃣ Prepare the Petals: Now take ½ of the red/orange/yellow strip and remove a bit of the sugar coating and stretch the strip slightly. This helps keep the flower from unraveling later.
3️⃣ Roll the Flower: With the red edge at the top, start rolling the strip, then twist, roll, twist, and roll again. You’re creating those pretty layered petals.
4️⃣ Secure It: Fold the edge over the bottom of the flower and insert a toothpick through the middle. Give the rose a little squeeze while you insert to help it hold its shape.
5️⃣ Insert in Cupcake: Cut the toothpick in half and gently stick the rose into the cupcake. You’ll need 19 roses total:
- 1 in the center of the cupcake
- 6 around the center
- 12 around the edges
6️⃣ Add Green Leaves: Use the green/blue strip to cut triangle-shaped leaves with your pizza cutter. Before placing the final flowers along the edge of the cupcake, insert a leaf on the toothpick so it peeks out. The green leaves add the perfect finishing touch!
7️⃣ Wrap It Up: Slide the whole thing into a cute cupcake wrapper (like the one from my Tea Party Printables), and you’re ready to impress.

Rose Bouquet Cupcakes FAQs
Can I use mini cupcakes?
es! You can totally make mini rose cupcake bouquets. Just reduce the number of flowers and use shorter toothpicks.
What about buttercream flowers instead of candy?
These rose cupcakes use candy, but if you’re feeling ambitious, you can always try making buttercream flowers with vanilla buttercream or buttercream frosting.
Can I color the frosting with food coloring?
Absolutely. If you’re using white frosting, add a few drops of food coloring to make a light green.
How do I avoid the flowers from falling apart?
Be sure to stretch the candy slightly and insert the toothpick firmly. Give each flower a little squeeze as you place it—that helps them hold.
Can I freeze these?
I wouldn’t recommend it. Candy doesn’t freeze well. Stick with fridge storage and eat within a couple of days.
