Pandas, balloons, and a bunch of kids sitting quietly for a book reading… honestly, I didn’t see that combo coming—but it totally worked.
This panda party ideas setup came together for my friend Brenda’s book launch, and it turned into one of those events that feels extra special without being over-the-top complicated.
Think cute balloon decor, interactive favors kids actually cared about, and just enough activities to keep things fun (not chaotic).

I’ll show you how we pulled off the balloon arch, the panda favors (yes, the ones every kid wanted), and simple activities that kept the party flowing.

Panda Party Setup That Steals the Show
Let’s start with the big moment: the balloon setup.
I used an arch I bought on Amazon that I researched way too long (no regrets), and it worked beautifully. (This particular arch has minimal screws and slightly weighted feet. It’s sturdy and comes with a bag to carry it)
Instead of my usual method, I switched things up for this one and used a different method—and I’ll be sharing a full tutorial soon.

👉 In the meantime, you can see my basic organic garland method here.
What made this one different:
- Used sections of black, white, and soft green balloons
- Added fake bamboo leaves (game changer for theme)
- Topped it with a giant panda head balloon
- Positioned it as a backdrop for readings
And then… we added that gorgeous green chair underneath it, which instantly turned it into a storytime moment.

The Sweetest Panda Party Favors (That Kids Went Crazy For)
The book may have been the main event, but these panda favors were right up there on every kid’s priority list.
We made panda-themed treat cards with panda cookies, using my printable—and yes, they were the thing that every kid wanted.

Why these worked so well:
- The printable is fully editable
- You can customize names/messages
- We were even able to hide a QR code under the treat (perfect for linking something fun or meaningful)
- Use Hello Panda cookies individual bags to keep in the theme.
- It looks like a cute panda hugging the treat
These weren’t just favors… they were motivation.

Because kids had to finish the scavenger hunt to earn one—and let me tell you, they were INVESTED.
Budget-Friendly Panda Centerpieces (That Look Anything But Cheap)
We needed something cute for multiple outdoor tables without blowing the budget.
Enter: balloon animal pandas 🐼

- Made with long balloons
- Super lightweight
- Easy and cheap enough to make a bunch
- We literally taped them to the tablecloths (and it worked perfectly)

They ended up being:
- Decorations ✔️
- Conversation starters ✔️
- Take-home favors ✔️

I have a full tutorial + video for these in another post because you’re going to want to make them.
Panda Party Activities That Actually Keep Kids Busy
No chaos. No bored kids. Just a solid plan just like I teach in my party planner.
What we did:
- Scavenger hunt. Complete it = earn a panda treat
The nearby play structure made for a perfect hiding spot for the clues.

- Panda tattoos (always a hit)

- Coloring station + printable games – Free printables available on Brenda’s site (link coming!)

This setup worked because it had:
- Movement (hunt)
- Creativity (coloring)
- Reward (treats)
Basically… a mom-approved trifecta.

The Book That Made This Panda Party So Special
At the heart of this whole party was my friend Brenda’s book, Could This Be Home?—and it honestly added such a meaningful layer to the entire event.

This isn’t just a cute panda story. It’s about finding where you belong, feeling safe, and discovering what “home” really means—all in a way kids actually connect with (and parents appreciate too).
And one of my favorite details? The illustrations were created by her friend Kati, who painstakingly drew every single page by hand—no AI, no shortcuts.

You can really feel that care and personality in every image, and it makes the book even more special.
Brenda did several live readings during the party under the balloon arch, and it turned into one of those quiet, memorable moments where all the kids actually stopped and listened (yes, really).

If you’re planning a panda party, this book is such a sweet way to add a meaningful moment—whether it’s a storytime break during the party or something thoughtful to share with guests.
