When I saw a reel featuring this adorable Halloween ghost craft, I knew I had to make one myself!
So off I went to Dollar Tree, where I grabbed all the supplies to create my own version.
Spoiler alert: they turned out amazing!
With a hanging ghost decoration, a metal paper towel bar, and a few cute add-ons, I created the sweetest little ghost that’s perfect for Halloween decor.
The best part? Each one costs only $4 to $5, depending on what extra decorations you grab! Plus, the hanging ghost decoration is something Dollar Tree carries every year, so you should have no trouble finding it.
This craft also gives you all the room to get creative. I’ve even seen people replace the sheet with a baby blanket or have their ghost holding a disco ball. No rules here, just a fun way to make your home Halloween-ready!

Have fun going through the aisle for something cute for your ghost to hold.
- Dollar Tree Ghost hanging decoration (with a foam head and posable arms)
- Metal paper towel holder
- Small lantern or other cute Halloween props (like pumpkins or treat bags)
- Black adhesive felt
- Optional: hot glue gun
I already had adhesive felt on hand, and while I couldn’t find it at my Dollar Tree, you can easily use a regular felt sheet and attach it with hot glue. It works just as well!
Ghost Halloween Craft Directions
1- Prep the Ghost Frame
Start by detaching the foam head and posable arms from the ghost’s sheet. Then, cut the string from the top of the head—it’s time to transform this ghost into something cute!
2. Create the Ghost’s Frame
Insert the foam head about an inch deep onto the metal paper towel holder. This will give your ghost a sturdy frame. The head of the ghost should sit nice and sturdy on the holder. If you’re worried about stability, you can use a bit of hot glue to hold everything in place, but I personally didn’t bother—no glue gun necessary here! The ghost form works perfectly without it.
3. Drape the Sheet Back On
Flip the ghost sheet over so the spooky face is hidden. Drape the sheet back over the foam head, but make sure the ghost’s face is in the back. Now, instead of an eerie ghost, you’ll have a cute white sheet ghost ready to come to life! You could use some other white piece of fabric you have at home too. I’ve even seen someone go all out with a pink baby blanket for a totally non-spooky Halloween craft!
4. Add the Eyes
Cut out two large, cute oval eyes from the black sticky felt. Peel off the sticky side and attach them to the ghost’s body. The felt should adhere easily to the fabric, no need for hot glue (unless you’re feeling extra secure). These eyes are what take the ghost from spooky to super cute in a snap.
5. Add Fun Accessories
Rearrange the ghost’s arms to hold whatever fun props you picked up and get creative! I added a small lantern to one hand, but you could also use a tiny trick-or-treat bag, a mini pumpkin, or any other Halloween prop you love. I’ve even seen ghosts holding disco balls—anything goes!
6. Final Touches (Optional)
If you want, you can use a hot glue gun to secure everything, but I kept mine easy to take apart and store for next year. With these easy steps, you’ll have a cute little ghost that’s perfect for Halloween decor—and you can switch it up year after year!
